International Society for Biocatalysis and Agricultural Biotechnology is a society established in 2005 for research and development focusing on the generation and modification of various bio-related functional materials such as biocatalysts, microorganisms, algae, plants, lipids, carbohydrates and proteins. The executive committee member of this society consists of 19 people including USA, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Canada, Slovakia, Germany, Denmark, UK, Malaysia and Hong Kong. The society holds International Symposium on Biocatalysis and Agricultural Biotechnology (ISBAB) every year. In 2011, the 7th symposium was held in Kyoto University, Japan. More recently, the meetings have been held in Canada in 2015, Hong Kong in 2016, Taiwan in 2017 and Malaysia in 2018. In addition, we are publishing an academic journal named Biocatalysis and Agricultrual Biotechnology (BAB) from Elsevier.
From this background, the 15th ISBAB will be held at the Hiroshima City Bunka Koryu Kaikan from September 19-21, 2019. It is expected that researchers from many countries in this field will come together in Hiroshima, give their research results and exchange opinions, which will greatly contribute to the development of the biotechnology field. Especially, young researchers will have the opportunity to exchange opinions directly with world-class researchers, which is expected to greatly stimulate future development of this field. Approximately 100 people are expected to participate in the symposium. The symposium consists of keynote speeches, general lectures, poster presentations and American Oil Chemists' Society (AOCS) Asian section lecture meetings. For the general lectures, there will be three sessions consisting of several fields of research such as agricultural biotechnology, functional food and nutraceuticals, bioprocesses, biofuels and bioproduct, biocatalysis and general biotechnology.
